Best Neutral Lightsabers: Neither Jedi Nor Sith

Lightsaber

Did you know there are 14 different kinds of lightsaber in the Star Wars universe?

But not all lightsabers come in the familiar blue or green for Jedi, or red for sith. Some straddle the line between good and evil, occupying an alluring middle ground between two powerful forces where the Gray Jedi lurk.

If you’re looking for neutral lightsabers to inspire your own custom lightsaber build, read on. We’ve put together a list of the five most impressive neutral lightsabers around.

1. Jolee Bindo’s Lightsaber

The Gray Jedi are the most well-known neutral characters in the Star Wars universe. These powerful force users follow neither the dark side or light side of the force. It’s this commitment to carving out their own path that makes them so popular with many Star Wars fans.

Jolee Bindo is one of the best-known Gray Jedi in the Star Wars universe.

His lightsaber has appeared in several different forms in its different media appearances. In the Knights of the Old Republic game, it resembled the saber of Sith Lord Darth Revan. Later, it developed a more distinct appearance, although the green blade remained. If you’re choosing this as inspiration for your custom build, you’ve got plenty of varieties to choose from.

2. Imperial Knight Neutral Lightsabers

The Imperial Knights were an order of force users appearing in the Star Wars: Legacy comic series.

Although they served the Emperor, they steered clear of the Dark Side of the force.

The Knights use blue-bladed sabers in the comics, similar to the standard sabers used by Jedi. But eagle-eyed fans of the series will notice certain unique features on the hilts which could be incorporated into a unique custom build.

3. General Grievous Lightsabers

Although he was a firm enemy of the Jedi, General Grievous is by far the most notable non-force user to wield the lightsaber.

If you’re looking for a Grievous saber, you’ve got plenty of choices. The cyborg warlord famously carried a variety of sabers taken from fallen Jedi enemies, so you can choose from weapons stolen from Jedi masters Jmmaar, Neebo, and many others. Another option from a multi-saber-wielding character who clashed with Grievous is the Ahoska Tano Lightsaber.

4. Jensaarai Saber

The Jensaarai are another group of saber users of unclear morality. Taking elements from both the Jedi and Sith, they can be seen wielding Jedi-inspired weaponry in many expanded universe novels.

There are plenty of detailed descriptions and illustrations in the novels, providing lots to base your custom lightsaber design on.

May the Force be With You!

We hope our list of neutral lightsabers gave you plenty of inspiration. There are plenty more outside-the-box examples to be found from across the expanded universe. With a little persistence, you should be able to find something totally unique.
