In a letter replying to concerns raised by US Senators Richard Blumenthal and Ed Markey, Tesla director Rohan Patel wrote that both FSD and Autopilot “require the constant monitoring and attention of the driver.”
Patel said that Tesla vehicles are capable of performing “some but not all of the Dynamic Driving Tasks” that can be performed by human drivers.
On its web-site Tesla states that FSD and Autopilot “require active driver supervision and do not make the vehicle autonomous.”
In January regulators told Tesla to recall 54,000 vehicles to correct its software which ignored stop signs
60,000 Tesla drivers have FSD.
